The
need for a Lohana Mandal in the Manchester area was apparent in
1975, whereupon discussions were held
consequently Shree Lohana Mahajan Aston-U-Tyne was formed, with
Shri Bachubhai Kota residing as the first President.
The Presidents and Officers have played their parts in the
formation and committees of LCUK. They have been actively
contributing to many events such as the Raas Garba Competitions,
Sports Competitions, Mahila Conferences, Youth forums and
Saraswati Sanman programs.
Like
most Mahajans, they celebrate the traditional festivals, Navratri
and Diwali as highlights of every year. Social
evenings including cookery competitions, musical entertainment,
variety show, etc. have been successfully held over the years.
We have also prepared items and teams for both LCUK functions
and local multi-cultural programs on many occasions.
The Mahajan has had long-standing representation in
the Tame side Community Relations Council, the North West Arts
group, MILAP, Waddle Welcome and other civic groups, through
which our views reach local government officials and we are
helped in practical and financial ways for specific projects.
The
future of this Mahajan is secure as all the members are
encouraged to serve the Mahajan with all their strength. They
always preserve and cherish our spirit of "Kutumbh
Mela"; a warm fellowship.
