25-03-1992 Pakistan won the B&H World Cup by defeating England in the final at Melbourne, by 22 runs. 

25-02-1993 Pakistan were dismissed for 43 (19.5 overs) by the West Indies at Cape Town, the lowest ever total in ODI. 

27-02-1993 West Indian Desmond Haynes playing his 220th match became the first batsman to reach 8000 runs in ODI, against Pakistan at Johannesburg.

South African Jonty Rhodes took five catches - the most by a fieldsman in ODI, against West Indies at Bombay. 

20-04-1994 Pakistanis Aamer Sohail and Inzamam ul Haq added 263 for the 2nd wicket - the highest ever for any wicket in ODI, against New Zealand at Sharjah. 

24-08-1994 Playing in his 174th match, Pakistani Wasim Akram became the highest wicket-taker in ODI when he over took Kapil Dev's tally of 253 wickets in 224 matches, against Sri Lanka at Colombo. 

14-04-1995 India won the fifth Asia Cup, for the fourth occasion, by defeating Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the final at Sharjah. 

16-10-1995 Sri Lanka by scoring 329 in 49.3 overs against West Indies at Sharjah became the first team to be dismissed despite scoring over 300 runs in an ODI match. Their total is also the highest for a team to lose a match and by a team batting second. 

14-02-1996 The sixth World Cup, known as the Wills World Cup began. India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka were the host. 

06-03-1996 Sri Lanka recorded the highest ever total of 398 for 5 in 50 overs against Kenya at Kandy in the 1996 World Cup. 

17-03-1996 Sri Lanka won the Wills World Cup by defeating Australia in the final at Lahore, by 7 wickets. 

01-04-1996 Singapore, became the 12th country to host a ODI. They remain as the only country to host an ODI but never participated in an ODI. The Padang ground, incidentally is 110th ground, while Singapore is the 101st city to host an ODI. 

02-04-1996 Many ODI records were set on this day. Sanath Jayasuriya became the fastest scorer of an ODI hundred when he achieved the feat in only 48 balls. During the course of his innings he belted 11 sixes - the most by any batsman in an innings in ODI. He also scored 30 runs in an over from Aamer Sohail. 

02-04-1996 A record match aggregate of 664 runs for 19 wickets off 99.4 overs was achieved by both teams. Sri Lanka batting first scored 349-9 in 50 overs, while Pakistan scored 315 in 49.4 overs.
