Ruccess Natwarlal Gokani- Soaring New Heights

"I dreamt of flying at four and I flew at fourteen and now I have a mission to train the young enthusiasts to fly too". Recess Natwarlal Gokani, a Lohana based in Baroda adds that he carries a spirit of velour, freedom and patriotism, as he talks of `giving' than `possessing'. At 26, he is philosophical, simple and yet adventurous.

`Adventure Sports', his first love, he rows and effortlessly moves ahead against the stream in gushing waters, he

unfolds his limbs in air to Para-sail or scale a mountain top and dives straight in to the deep green valley. Recess is no different to the masses of the city. But he moves across the country to spread his mission - `A Mission of Para-Sailing'!

A Commercial Pilot and winner of a Gold Medal for best Pilot in Madhya Pradesh, Recess has been attending numerous NCC camps as a cadet and later joined the Indian Air Force to be a part of the `Hunter' Squadron-Kalaikunda. All this apart from completing 308 hours of flying in Cessna 152, Pushpin, Recess passionately continues to talk about his flying official tenure as a pilot and the numerous hours that he spent in air unofficially.

But fate did strike this extremely spirited and patriotic person - Colour blindness forced him to drop out of the Air Force and subsequently had to leave flying an aircraft! But the ever-revamped Recess adds "Nothing can stop me soaring the blue skies", yet elevating into air himself and educating thousands of others to take to the sport as he works to launch his project of `Para-Sailing'.

He terms Para-sailing as a kind of meditation, apart from instilling a spirit of bravery and a drive to explore. Anyone can be trained into Para-sailing provided he or she `dares to do'. A 6-year-old boy and a 60-year-old man figure among the long list of Para-sailors trained by Green Edge Para Sailing (GEPS), an institution thru which he has dared spreading the sport amongst the masses. Most students say that it is not only a physical thrill but also makes them emotionally strong. The initial fear will be is replaced by a newfound confidence. Soaring high altitudes one develops high attitude and with the safest aviation activity there is no gear of getting hurt he adds. The harness jacket ensures that one stays in place even if one loosens the grip. While this is a kind of sheer fun of soaring in the simplest of flying machines with foot/base launched specially designed circular parasail.

Launching such adventure sport activities and remunerating a spirit of confidence and exploration among the masses this young man has not looked back in a mission to succeed. Initially encouraged and funded by his own father Natwarlal Pranajivan Gokani, Recess is presently working on his own with few other motivated activists who believe that "life's busy working monotony should be broken by indulging into sport activities which will further leave them rejuvenated".

Already exercised in cities like Baroda, Indore, Bhopal, Pune, and Hyderabad in association with Army and Air Force, Recess is presently making projects to expand the GPES cell in other metros like Bangalore, Chennai and Vishakapatnam. For now, parasailing is no longer the exclusive preserve of NCC cadets or those serving in the Armed Forces, if determined anyone can explore under adventure sports cells like GEPS.

Recess as a person blends more into his living spirit. An electronic engineer from the REC, Indore, he has actually learned flying aircrafts in a civil flying club under a special talent sponsorship and lately is surprisingly into learning Vedic Studies, Sanskrit, apart from being a dabbler of instrumental music both wind blown and also stringed.

For, Recess believes in unifying the past and the present, all to proceed ahead.
